How to Set up the Course on a Website
I believe you have recorded your course already! Congratulations. Now it is time to Publish it to the website. In this part of the course we will learn:
- How to Set Up your course
- How to Publish the course videos and text
- How to Create Quizzes
- How to Upload downloadable materials and Assignments
Let’s start with Setting up your course
How to Set Up your course
In this program we build our websites with WordPress engine. To be able to publish the course to a website you need to have Learning Management System also called LMS.
We will use a free Learning Management System for this course that is called TutorLMS that later can be scaled with paid subscription to extend it’s functionality.
This is one of the most advanced Learning Management Systems for the WordPress Website on the market and it is already set up for you.
Welcome to Courses.KoroniEd.Com
The location of your first course will be www.Courses.KoroniEd.com where I have already installed this Plugin (TutorLMS) and made everything ready for you to publish the course and start selling it whenever you are ready.
: Demonstration of the screen
Demonstrate the Page: This page will change as the website develops, so if you don’t recognize the way it looks at some point it is ok.
Payment Gateway
There is a payment gateway, that will allow you to accept payments from your customers using Paypal account attached to the website and get 90% of the Revenue. Why 90% because the 10% will be held for operations management, including the PayPal fees for the Payment Gateway transactions.
The system also allows to accept payments for your course through the Bank Transfer, in this case no Payment Gateway fees will be collected and you will only need to pay 3-5% of your course revenue for the maintenance of the website (depending on revenue).
So nothing needs to be paid forward or monthly.. only percentage of your sales depending on the payment method chosen by your clients.
Now when you understand the organizational details lets dive into publishing your course.
BackEnd of the Courses.KoroniEd.com
What is BackEnd of the Website?
The backend of the Website is the Administrative access to the website that is only visible to creators of the content like you. To login to this part of the site you need to follow the link of the site that includes /wp-admin
https://Courses.Koronied.com/wp-admin
This is the place to login any time. As we develop you might this link appearing on the core Koronied website too
Login details
What are the login details? Same as your login details to the Koronied.com as a student. Password and your email are synchronized across the systems.
If you have an issue with password, hit reset password once. Note that the system may send the password with a delay of 15-20 minutes. So don’t hit password reset multiple times.
WordPress Backend Interface
When you get in you will see the Backend Interface which is familiar to many of you. In any case I will walk you through it.
The main place you will work with is TutorLMS section where you can publish your courses and see the enrollments.
Fill in the information about the course
To fill in information you will need:
- Course Title
- Course Description
- List of Benefits for Students
- List of Target Audience
- List of Materials included in the course
- Requirements and Instructions
All of this information I have prepared ahead with the use of ChatGPT. I have simply converted the Introduction content of the course using the following Prompt:
“Can you help me create a course description for the LMS, course benefits (one benefit per line) and target audience (one target audience per line) using the following information from course introduction:”
We are ready to fill in the Course information
Featured Image and Advertisement video
To complete the course set up we will need the Course Thumbnail (Featured image) and Advertisement Video for the course.
For Featured image you can search the illustration that represents your course content on the website Pexels.com. You need to use a
- Horizontal image
- Size 1200 x 628
- Real people
- Not AI generated
- Not drawn illustration
Note that there are more instructions and requirements for your featured image that we will cover in another video since it needs some processing before uploading. So current image is a temporarily solution.
In case of Advertisement video we will use an Introduction video. Later when you will work on your advertisement campaign you might need to update the video to convert more viewers into customers. But not now.
All your course videos will be located on your new YouTube Channel as a video host. It is simple to create one.
Create a Hosting YouTube Channel
Go to https://Youtube.com/channel_switcher
This link will redirect you to the Youtube.com/Account but since this page has multiple tabs you need the tab where you can Add or Manage your channels
To create your channel simply give it your Name and we will work on the branding and description of it on YouTube course. Right now the videos can be uploaded here under 15 minutes.
If you want to increase the time of the videos you can upload go through the verification process.
To upload the video Click on Create button and start upload.
Ensure to make a video available by the Link: Publish it UNLISTED
Now you have the link you need. Let’s add it to the course
Customize the course link and Category
