Now that you possess a Basic Product Concept and an understanding of complementary products that can be developed, let’s explore how to plan what to produce. Given that our goal is for the customer to improve their situation with your Basic Product Concept, we must ensure they have all the necessary tools for transformation.
Do you know why you should not be afraid to share all your ‘secrets’ online? It’s because most people lack the ability to simply apply your knowledge to their lives.
For example, knowing how to swim theoretically does not mean you can swim. You may know as much as you want about swimming, have a degree in knowing, but when you immerse in the water, that’s when the swimming starts. Between being ashore and being in the water, there is a huge gap and a barrier, especially if the water is cold. You really need to believe that you can and will swim. If you don’t, you have to contend with a lot of ‘what ifs,’ doubts, concerns, and limiting convictions.
This is where books and other educational products come to the rescue. They work with conventions, proving to the reader the necessity to make a change, explaining all the gains and consequences, showcasing examples, and doing the loud thinking for the reader.
In addition to knowledge and convictions, for people to practice what you teach, they NEED ASSISTANCE. What assistance? People need help to:
- Organize
- Plan and prioritize
- Discipline themselves
- Follow through
- Remain consistent
- Overcome obstacles
This is where your complementary products come to the rescue. All the aforementioned can be provided to the customer through your guides, trackers, questionnaires, tables, and, of course, structured educational materials in various forms such as videos, courses, tutorials, and so on.
To scale your product idea, you simply need to incorporate all these tools into the Basic Product Concept. Let me show you how to do it the old-fashioned way with Brainstorming Cards. Additionally, I will provide brief instructions on how to do it in a digital format.
I hope I have made it clear to you. Once you have finished working with the cards in either format, proceed to the Product Sheet and list all the products you have created along with any notes you have made for them. Remember that in the coaching program you have chosen, there is a minimum number of products to be created, for example, 5 books and 2 courses. Ensure you incorporate it into your plan. However, you are not limited by the planned products. You can develop as many books, workbooks, courses, trackers, tables, and sheets as you need to help the customer go from point A to point B.
